Rossonove 2025
Artist in Residency Call
“We should feel intimately that we have slipped from a simple ecological crisis to what should rather be called a profound mutation in our relationship with the world.” — Bruno Latour
A Call to Arts
Ecological conflicts shape space and life in fundamental ways. At Rossonove, we believe that artists have the power to act as catalysts—infusing alternative imaginaries and new ways of seeing into the landscapes they inhabit, if only for a time. Our home, the Ligurian coast, is a place deeply in need of such vision.
We invite artists of all disciplines to join us in reimagining th.is space through temporary artistic residencies. Whether your practice is deeply rooted in the environment or you simply feel the pull of a place that resists easy definitions, we welcome you to explore, create, and share your vision with us. This site specific residency work opportunity is for helping out this land to re-connect.

Who We Are
Rossonove is a non-profit association dedicated to fostering artistic residencies that engage with the landscape and its transformations. We collaborate with artists, communities, and organizations to imagine alternative futures and implement creative interventions.
Our guiding principle is “zero land consumption”—a commitment to working within existing spaces rather than contributing to further exploitation. The Ligurian coast, long preyed upon by short-term tourism and unchecked development, needs new narratives that reconnect its people to their environment.
Rossonove is based in Alassio, Western Liguria, and works in collaboration with partners such as Trasformatorio Foundation and Radio Antidoto. If our work resonates with your local context, we welcome dialogue and exchange.
Residency Locations for 2025
The residency will take place across different sites in Liguria. Some locations are wild, others are relics of human intervention—each invites artistic exploration. Yu will find pictures and informations about these sites on our website: rossonoveorg
The Beach
A four-kilometer stretch of sandy coastline between Alassio and Laigueglia. A contested space, shaped by climate change, overuse, and privatization. Residencies not available from June to September due to extreme summer tourism.
The Train Line
Built in the XIX century, never really finished, a lifeline for many and the best way to reach the area, the train line is part of the landscape. Contested plans to move it out of the cities collide with reality of local production, growing costs and environmental concerns.
Ranzi: Vineyard & Youth Club
A quiet mountain hamlet with no bars or shops, featuring an abandoned pizzeria-turned-community space and a small vineyard in need of care.
Former Naval Shipyard Area
An 800-meter stretch of abandoned industrial waterfront in Pietra Ligure, once home to Mediterranean shipbuilders, now caught in speculative limbo.
La Rosagialla Balcony
A place of solitude, dreams, and shared visions—a suspended terrace overlooking the sea.
The Caves
Former quarries, some still operational, others abandoned and subject to speculation. Layers of history carved into the rock.
The Albenga Plain
A patchwork of greenhouses and farmlands, sustaining local agriculture but marked by intensive use of plastic and an often-invisible migrant workforce.
Puerta del Sol
An abandoned hotel in the hills, once a training ground for the Italian national football team. A site of faded grandeur, awaiting reinterpretation.
Julia Augusta
A preserved stretch of ancient Roman road, lined with remnants of a lost empire.
Oleificio Roveraro
Ex Oleificio Roveraro is a former oil mill located in Borghetto Santo Spirito, Liguria, Italy. Once a hub of olive oil production, it now stands empty and crumbling in between speculation and regeneration.
Partners 2025
Radio Antidoto community webradio, home of experiments and company
Trasformatorio Foundation
